Hey I've never seen you before. Are you from around here?
Well I'll just see you tomorrow in school hopefully, nice to meet you!
No, I come from North Korea. This seems way different from there too. It is my 1st day
School?! Okay see you there !!
Yeah they do, In our market economy In the U.S. they have economic security
The Next Morning On The Bus
Well here they provide us with transportation and education.
We have that too, kind of. They provide us with jobs.
I didn't know that they gave us a ride to school
Yeah. In the U.S we have economic freedom which is buying and wearing what we want without the govt. telling us anything!
Bad thing is one lunch lady got fired so we have to wait for an available one, our jobs aren't secured.
Wow, I can't even wear jeans as they are illegal so I wear these slacks
You guys are very lucky, you can buy what food you want?
That sucks in North Korea we can't get fired, we keep our job no matter what.
Choose Your Lunch!
Oh it's because she doesn't come on time and messes up a lot.
In my command economy, no one has incentives wear people are all equal no matter how bad or good they do, it's called economic equity. everyone is equal no matter what which could be both good and bad
how come the lunch lady got fired?
Yeah.. we don't have much money and the government doesn't help out with that as much in our economy.. as we ourselves do things like price and choose what we sell
that sucks. the govt. provides us with a home as well. some better than this and some worse but hey its free.
Is this your house?
I want to go back..I miss being at home, this market economy isn't as simple or as fair. We don't have too make many choices there as we listen to the govt.
Yeah I understand, if I were in North Korea in a command economy I would also want to go back home as I'm not used to it and will miss all the variety of things I had. We're both very different. Different economies but we still have goals, positives, and negatives. You'll be home soon
