  • The Texans used Cattle Drives to get cattle from Texas to Places like Kansas or New York. These drives took a few days because the cowboys could only go about to miles per day. in the mid 1800s the cattle drives ended for a lot of reasons like the invention of barbed wire.
  •      A lot of people  came looking for jobs in the oil business. A lot of them knew if they got into the business they might get rich off of it. Some small villages turned in large towns of around 10,000 people.
  • There were problems with their other transportation ways. Some of their rivers were too shallow so they couldn’t use boats. Another way was dirt roads but during bad weather ,or rain, they would get too muddy to travel on. And railroads were cheap, fast, and reliable.
