I think the tone of the short story is fear because Edgar Allan Poe makes the story have a fear factor with the murder.
I'm so awesome! I'm going to get away with this! I'm sooo smart!
I think the word choice has more of a negative effect on the story because the story is about a killing.
I'm so sorry! I'm the one who killed him! Here he is!
What the?! That...that's a dead body!
I think the imagery is the heart going "bu bum, bu bum" after the killer kills the old man and before he kills him.
*Bu Bum! Bu Bum!*
I think the style is more of a mystery, suspense, and creepy because of the fact that the main character is planning on killing someone.
I think the theme for this story is "lying is never the answer. Always tell the truth because if you don't, it will haunt you." I chose this because of the killer, he never confessed that he killed the old man. And for that, he heard his own heart thumping and it drove him insane.
