Storyboard Text

  • Trade became popular after the Crusades and towns and cities grew.  This helped remove fiefs and end feudalism.
  • King John made many enemies and was disliked among the nobles.
  • This contributed to the decline of feudalism because this was the first time the king has said he was not above the law.
  • The nobles had had enough of it and forced King John to sign the Magna Carta (Great Charter).
  • The plague spread throughout Europe, killing much of the population.
  • The survivors now held the power, and they could make whatever demands they desire.  This new power promoted democratic thought, and helped end feudalism.
  • The 100 year war took many lives, and helped to shift the power to surviving citizens, with similar results to the plague.  The survivors' power helped the decline of feudalism.
