When Agamemnon refuses and threatens to return the girl to her father, Apollo is offended and casts a pestilence upon them.
THE ILIAD BY: HOMER
To please Apollo and put a stop to the plague, Achilles forces Agamemnon to return Chryseis. However, when Agamemnon reluctantly agrees to return her, he replaces her with Briseis, Achilles own war-prize concubine.
BRISEIS
AGAMEMNON
Okay but instead I will replace her with Briseis, your war-prize concubine.
ACHILLES
Bring Chryseis back!
In a single duel over Helen, Paris and Menelaus fight a battle. Menelaus has prevailed.
PARIS
You can't have Helen!
MENELAUS
Patroclus, Achilles' friend and lover, is given a task of dressing in Achilles' armor and leading the Myrmidons in repelling the Trojans.
Patroclus, lead the Myrmidons in repelling the Trojans.
ACHILLES
Okay, Achilles!
PATROCLUS
Hector encounters the disguised Patroclus and, mistaking him for Achilles, fights and kills him (again with Apollo's assistance).
I'm sorry Archilles I can't lead them anymore.
PATROCLUS
You will die in my hands Archilles!
HECTOR
Distraught over his companion's death, Achilles reconciles with Agamemnon and returns to the fray, despite his fatal fate, and in his anger, drives all the Trojans before him.
