  • Battle of Saratoga - 1777
  • Battle of Yorktown - 1781
  • In December of 1776, 4,000 Americans surprised 1,400 Germans when they marched into Trenton. This victory and the battle at Princeton gave hope to the Americans.
  • In October 1777, British troops marched to Saratoga Springs to fight the colonists, however reinforcements from New York didn't get there in time. This forced British General Burgoyne to surrender, making a turning point in the revolution, as France was now on the Colonist's side.
  • The battle of Yorktown began on October 6th and lasted 2 weeks. 16,000 troops consisting of American and French soldiers surrounded Britain's army of 8,000. American and British signed the Treaty of Paris. This was the last battle in the war and a victory for America.
