The Chinese Immigrants first lived in China and in time moved to America.
Many people in China where poor and couldn't afford food or farmland for them and their family. Many Americans said that the Chinese immigrants were stealing there jobs for less money. Many years passed before the Chinese immigrants could freely live in America again.
Moving was good because they could make money for their families to buy important things like more things to wear and more food. Also so they could get more land to live on.
Did you know that the Chinese miners made and designed their own tools and machines? They built a huge railroad for a job called the Transcontinental Railroad. Many workers fell off ropes, froze to death, and because of the gunpowder some blew up.
When the Chinese Immigrants moved it affected others because it annoyed the other miners because that meant that they would get less gold. And the Americans used violence to get the Chinese Immigrants away from the mines.
I wonder what it would be like if the Chinese immigrants had a better chance to do other things.
