  • France was close to going bankrupt because of the lavish lifestyle the monarchy has been living in. King Louis XVI decided to call in the Estates to help him decide what to do and they decided to tax the poor
  • Champ De Mars Massacre(July 17, 1791)
  • STOP OR WE WILL SHOOT!
  • The Third Estate was enraged because they only received one vote. The Third Estate decided to gather at the hall of Versailles. But king Louis locked them out. They later found a local tennis court and took an oath to not separate until they got what they wanted and that's where the tennis court oath was born
  • The Invasion of the Tuileries(June 20, 1792)
  • The Bastille was a symbol of the monarchy rule, it was a prison and in that prison was gunpowder The Third Estate wanted the gunpowder to use for themselves, so they decided to storm it. When the third estate successfully stormed the prison they took the leader
  • Execution of King Louis XVI(January 23, 1793)
  • when King Louis' failed to flee France to the Austrian Netherlands. The revolutionaries started to protest about how the French Republic didn't abolish the Monarchy at the Champ De Mars, later on, the protesting got so out of hand the revolutionary guards were forced to shoot the revolutionaries.
  • King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette tried to flee to the Austrian Netherlands and the Champ De Mars incident occured the Revolutionaries were mad so they decided to force their way into his Palace where him and his family were forced to take refuge
  • The new French Republic has successfully got what they wanted but they still wanted to remove anything that represented the old monarchy. The nearby countries were scared that the ideas of the revolution would spread to their countries and they demanded that France would be taken back but Robespierre knew it would not happen with King Louis XVI at the throne. So Robespierre decided to execute King Louis XVI.
