Summary:The Most Important Thing
When yellow fever outbreaks start to occur Reed's team is searching for the cause. After running tests on patients and failing many times Reed's team might be on to something. Finally they figure out that the cause of yellow fever is mosquitoes. Now they just have to find a vaccine and a cure. Dr. Max Theiler beat them to it and found a vaccine to yellow fever. No more outbreaks, no more sicknesses and no more yellow fever.
If Reed's team gave up when their tests failed and they had to work endlessly to try and find what was causing yellow fever , then there would be no vaccine for the disease. There also wouldn't have been the discovery that mosquitoes were the cause of yellow fever.
