  • Because of the King v. Chapman case, the white primary is deemed unconstitutuional. Now blacks can vote in the primary too.
  • The white primary is wrong in America.
  • Eugene Talmadge runs for governer and is elected, promising to bring back the white primary.
  • Before being sworn in, Eugene Talmadge dies from alcoholism related issues that were a secret from most, creating the 3 Governers Contreversy.
  • Melvin E. Thompson was the Lieutenant Governor-elect, and the new constitution said that the lieutenant governor would replace the governor in the event that the governor couldn't serve.
  • Herman Talmadge, Eugene Talmadge's son, claimed to be governer because the General Assembly chose him based off of fake write in votes.
  • Ellis Arnall, the current governer, declared that he would remain governor until the incident was resolved.
  • The General Assembly decided that M. E. Thompson would be governer until a special election 2 years later. In the special election, Herman Talmadge wins. 
  • Melvin Thompson is the best choice for Governor. Additionally, that is basically what the new Constitution says the Lieutenant Governor is for.
  • M. E. Thompson was sworn in as lieutenant governor and then as governor.
