  • Is the King stirring, worthy thane? He commanded me to wake him up early.
  • People are saying they heard cries of grief in the air, strange screams of death.
  • The Porter is creating some comic relief for the play by speaking about sexual performance. Macduff is there to speak to Macbeth and to wake the King.
  • O horror, horror, horror!Tongue nor heart cannot conceive nor name thee!Our royal master’s murdered!
  • Macduff comes to wake the King just as he had asked. Macbeth offers to take Macduff to the King since he is the host.

  • Lennox describes to Macbeth that people were hearing cries in the night of grief and pain. People also heard strange predictions of death.
  • Macduff comes out from the King's chamber and describes the terrible sight he had seen. A murder had come and killed the King. He wakes everyone to tell them the news.
  • Lady Macbeth finds out about the King's death. She is acting faint while Macbeth honors his dead King.
  • Macduff breaks the news to the King's son Malcolm that his son is dead. Meaning that he is the next to become King.
