The gulf stream starts in Florida, and goes up Eastern U.S. and Canada. After that, it continues east toward Europe. Global ocean currents are important because it could determine the climate for countries/cities that border the ocean.
Unfortunately, our oceans have been affected due to something called climate change. When humans burn too many greenhouse gasses into the air, it makes our planet warm up. This has been affecting the ocean because the water is rising due to glaciers melting, some carbon dioxide is going into the ocean, and ocean temperatures have been dramatically rising.
