King Claudius is instructing Rosencrantz and Guildenstern to take Hamlet to England. Polonius then enters and explains to the king of his plan to ease drop on a conversation between Hamlet and his mother, Queen Gertrude.
Hamlet approaches King Claudius while he is kneeling and trying to cleanse his soul with forgiveness. Hamlet then comes to his senses after withdrawing his sword, and realizes that if he kills the king at prayer, he will only go to to heaven. So Hamlet decides to wait until King Claudius is sinning to make his move.
Hamlet enters his mothers bedroom and proceeds to verbally attack her, trying to make her feel guilty. She cries out for help and Polonius hears her and attempts to come to her aid but was stopped by Hamlets sword. The ghost of King Hamlet enters the room but Queen Gertrude sees nothing. She claims Hamlet to be mad, again.
