  • Man Vs. Society
  • Man Vs. Man
  • Man Vs. Nature
  • I knew that when Lyddie didn't want to sign the petition it was a example of Man Vs. Society. The reason this was a example of this is because Lyddie is one of few against the rest of the girls signing the petition. "She was making far more money than she ever had at home in Vermont or was ever likely. Why couldn't people just live and let live?" Page 93
  • When Lyddie first meets Mistress Cutler it is an example of Man vs. Man conflict. The reason this is a example of this is because Mistress Cutler is mean to Lyddie and basically calls her trash. "This is a respectable tavern, not the township poor farm." Page 20
  • When Lyddie begins to work in the Mill during the summer it is an example of Man Vs. Nature conflict. This is a example of this because when the temperature rises it is natural and it really affects the amount of work Lyddie has to do. "And besides, with July near by upon them, the three roommates were making plans for going home." Page 80-81
