Genesis chapter one, is a version the creation myth. In this creation myth, God spent one day a week creating different pieces of the World and the heavens. On the first day, God created light, day and night. On the second day, God created the sky. On the third day God created the Earth and the Seas. And he allowed the Earth to put forth vegetation. On the fourth day, God created the stars and the sun to light the day and night. On the fifth day, God created winged animals and animals for the waters. On the sixth day, God created animals to roam the Earth and humankind. On the seventh day, the last day of the week, (the sabbath) God rested after his weeks hard work. He blessed this day and hallowed it.
In the beginning, the heavens and the Earth were a formless void. Darkness covered everything.
let there be light.(1:1:3)
On the first day, God created light. He saw that the light was good, and so he separated light from dark. He decided that the light would be day, and the dark would be night.
Let there be a dome in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters. (1:1:6)
On the second day, God created the sky. He separated the waters under this 'dome' from the ones above the dome, and called it the sky.
Let dry land appear(1:1:9). Let the Earth put forth vegetation(1:1:11).
God called the Land Earth, and the waters the Sea. God created plants and trees of every kind, and he saw that it was good. This was the third day.
Let the waters bring forth swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the dome of the sky (1:1:20).
God created the stars to light the night. God also created the sun to light the day. This was the fourth day.
God created winged animals to live on land and animals in the waters. he gave them the ability to reproduce. This was the fifth day.
1:2:1-3 God rested on the seventh day. He blessed it and called it the sabbath.
Let the earth bring forth living creatures of every kind (1:1:24). Let us make humankind (1:1:26).
God created animals to roam the Earth. God then created humankind how he wanted. He gave all the ability to reproduce as well. This was the sixth day.
