- hey James did you understand our lesson in math?
- Yes William I think I have an understanding of it.
- do you mind explaining what is domain and range?
- First the domain of a function is the set of values that we are allowed to plug into our function. This set is the x values in a function such as f(x).
- So what does the range do?
- The range of a function is the set of values that the function assumes. This set is the values that the function shoots out after we plug an x value in.
- can you give me an example?
- Sure!An example would be f(x) = 2x+4 for x=5The answer would bef(5) = 14
- So how did we get that answer?
- By just replacing the variable x with the number 5 we get the answer f(5) = 14
