  • hey James did you understand our lesson in math?
  • Yes William I think I have an understanding of it.
  • do you mind explaining what is domain and range?
  • First the domain of a function is the set of values that we are allowed to plug into our function. This set is the x values in a function such as f(x).
  • So what does the range do?
  • The range of a function is the set of values that the function assumes. This set is the values that the function shoots out after we plug an x value in.
  • can you give me an example?
  • Sure!An example would be f(x) = 2x+4 for x=5The answer would bef(5) = 14
  • So how did we get that answer?
  • By just replacing the variable x with the number 5 we get the answer f(5) = 14
