I rule Egypt at this very moment, I control my army and look over my kingdom.
-=- Government Officials -=-
I was born into my job as a government official. I advise the pharaoh and collect taxes. I am quite rich.
-=- Priests -=-
We have just finished mummified the corpse of the last pharaoh.
The pharaoh of Egypt was the top class on the social pyramid. The Vizier would always assist the pharaoh, while the pharaoh controlled the military and ruled over the kingdom, always making descicions.
-=- Scribes -=-
I'm one of the only people in Egypt that can read and write! I solve court cases everyday.
The government officials of ancient Egypt were born into their job. There was the Vizier, who was the government official to mostly helped and served the pharaoh with anything they wanted. The government officials also helped command the military, national security, oversaw most of the money, and collected taxes.
-=- Artisans -=-
I am the 2nd lowest class. Us artisans do everything that mainly includes architecture. This is a statue of our pharaoh I had just finished sculpting.
Below the government officials we have the priests. There were different kinds of priests, such as the high priest, temple priests, and then there were the other priests. The priests advised the pharaoh and oversaw healing. They also gave advise and did the mummification process. They weren't allowed to eat fish or vegetables, since it was considered "Food of the poor". They had to be bald, only wear linen clothing and bathe atleast four times a day.
-=- Peasants -=-
Us peasants work everyday through the seasons of the Nile. We are the lowest social class.
Scribes were the social class below priests. Only men could be scribes, and scribes were some of the only people that could read and write in all of ancient Egypt. They recorded events, dealt with court cases, write laws, and even count the number of military soliders. To be a scribe, you must go to scribe school starting at the age of five, to learn and remember 700 different hieroglyphics.
Artisans were the class above the lowest social class. Artisans did a lot of different things, they all related with architecture though. Some of these jobs included metal working, painting, pottery, sculpting, carpentry, leather working, weaving, and jewelry. They had houses with no more than three rooms, and had to work 10 days before having any sort of break. Artisans always depended on food from their jobs though.
Peasants are the lowest class on the social pyramid. All they do is work work work. They are the class with the most people, and do farming and building. The peasants are considered unskilled workers compared to all the other classes. There was something called the seasons of the Nile for peasants. What would happen is that there would be three seasons, all including the Nile river. First, is the flooding season. This is when the Nile river overflows and floods, making the soil nice and moist. This is also the season when all the peasants work on any designs artisans have designed to be built. Next, is the we had the planting season. This is where the peasants would plant all the seeds and other things to grow food. Lastly, is the harvesting season. This is when all the peasants would store up all of the food they had planted.
