  • On April 19,1775, Great Britain marched into Lexington and Concord, Massachusetts to capture hidden guns and supplies. The Americans were warned so they fired at the British and forced them back to Boston. This started the Revolutionary War.
  • A few weeks after the battle of Lexington and Concord, the Second Continental Congress met. They wanted to resist the British so they created the Continental Army. The Second Continental Congress also wrote the Declaration of Independence. This was a document that explained why the colonists felt it was important that they free themselves from British rule.
