But what kind of effects? Alcohol isn't banned at all!
And the temperance movement was actually quite successful. In fact it even got itself a constitutional amendment for a while before that was repealed. However the effects of it are still viewed to this day.

Well, the effects it caused were giving people a broader understanding of alcohol and its dangers. People were educated about alcoholism from the movement and it has improved society ever since.
