  • They all had a common enemy, the 5 nations Iroquois. all the fighting and attacks were a threat to everyone. Louis-Hector de Callière told everyone that if they wanted to put an end to all the hostilities then we must meet with one another. the date that they were all going to was set for August 1701 in Montréal.
  • Louis-Hector de Callière, the governor of New France was trying to convince about thirty or more first nations to come to Montrèal to sign a lasting peace treaty but he was finding it very hard. The french had already had an alliance with various first Nations.
  • everyone signed the peace treaty and they use the tree of peace to signify that they are all at peace with on another. The peace tree was planted on the highest mountain. there was now a peace between them
