We can't look after these kids anymore. We can't afford it, we have no money.
You have to leave and take care and look after your grandmother!
Rosa Parks was born on February 4th, 1913 in Tuskegee, Alabama. She was the oldest of her 2 other siblings. Her parents then separated and moved to Pine Level, Alabama to stay with her grandparents.
She soon attended the Alabama State Teachers College. She had to drop out in order to provide care for her ill grandmother. This means that she couldn't graduate. She didn't have any plans to return to her studies so she got a job at a shirt factory.
At the age of 19, she married a man named Raymond Parks. He was part of the NAACP (The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People). He supported her studies and she was able to finish her studies and get a highschool diploma.
