  • First person to go to Wisconsin was in 1634. The land was built up by the people and the wildlife. 
  • Jean Nicolet was the fist to come to Wisconsin. That he had sailed into Green Bay. Where he was met by a group of Indians which he thought he made it to China. 
  • In the 1670' is when the traders started moving into Wisconsin. French became close with Native Americans. 
  • The French had good relationships with some Indian groups. Indians benefited from the tools and the French made money from the beaver.
  • Many traded and had brandy and missonary noted that far traders where alcohol, gambling, and debauchery.  
  • The relationship between the French and Indians lasted till the 1760's. Ended when British won the seven years war. British did not see the Indians as trading partners anymore.
