Hop-Frog is a crippled dwarf, and a jester in the king's court. Trippetta is Hop-Frog's friend and also an entertainer of the king. The corpulent king and his 7 ministers' favorite thing is to play practical jokes at other people's expense.
The king was having a grand fete, and he wanted Hop-Frog to come up with a costume for him and his ministers to wear. Trippetta tried to defend Hop-Frog, so the king hit her and threw wine in her face.
Hop-Frog decides to dress the king and his ministers as Ourang- Outangs. Hop-Frog fetters and chains the Ourang- Outangs together as part of the costume.
Hop-Frog uses the chain from the chandelier to pull the king and his ministers up , close to the ceiling. All of the party-goers are making a clamorous noise trying to escape. Hop-Frog sets the Ourang-Outangs on fire with a torch!
Hop-Frog vehemently announces:
"I now see distinctly who these maskers are. They are the great king and his 7 privy councillors- a king who does not scruple to strike a defenseless girl..."
Hop- Frog and Trippetta abscond from the party and run back to their home country. The End
