Storyboard Text

  • Sacrifice
  • This is unfair.
  • Foreshadowing
  • Alright Tessie. I thought we were going to have to get this lottery on without you.
  • Mood
  • This is the part where sacrifice happens and Tessie was selected for the lottery and was sacrificed for the community.
  • This is an example of foreshadowing because Tessie shows up late to the lottery and the man says he was going to go on without her. This could show that since she was late she would be the one who was selected for the lottery.
  • This is the part in the story where the Hutchinson family drew for the lottery. The mood that Shirley Jackson created was suspenseful. It was suspenseful because it was time to see who would win the lottery. The text states,"...breathed heavily as she went forward.." This shows that something serious is going to happen and is important to the story. Also, it had me holding on the edge of my seat.
