  • Kind Darius asked Greece for tributes after that Ionian war.The Greeks refused so the Persian went to war.

  • KIng Darius was still angry that the greek fought then in lonia.He wanted to take over greece but the greeks refused.
  • Battle of Plataea
  • In 480 BCE,king xerxes from Persia sent army 180,000 soldiers to Greeces to conquer the city-states.The spartan king,Leonidas,tried to stop them at thermopylae.They only had 6,000-7,000 soldiers in their army.They could only hold back the Persians.
  •                        Effects
  • They would be attacked. Within two weeks, King Xerxes burned Athens to the ground. The navy leader, Themistocles, thought of a plan to defeat the Persians.
  • In 179 BCE the battle of Patae took place near Thebes.The Persian king Xerxes fought the Athenians and Spartans.The Greeks won and The Greeks won the Persian war and drove their army from Greece.
  • The persian took over lonia,which was a greek settlement in Asia Minor (Turkey today).The geeks sent an army to fight the Persians.They won the few battles and then left.However the persians continued to fight and won the war This revolt was the begging of the greek-persian wars.
