William Penn was a Quaker, Quakers believed that all men were equal and that churches did not need leaders. Quakers were also pacafists, which meant they refused to fight in wars.
Pennsylvania can be my holy experiment! And a safe place for Quakers to live in peace.
Penn believed that the land belonged to the Native Americans so he successfully negotiated many treaties with them.
In order to grow the colony into a successful venture, Penn advertised all throughout Europe.
