In chapter 1, there is a gardener named Manuel, who tricked Buck, by taking him for a walk, but instead Manuel sold Buck to Perrault.
In chapter 2, Since Buck was kidnapped he is experiencing being a sled dog. He met another dog named Curly which was a friend to Buck. Then Curly had gotten to close to their leader Spitz. Curly was then massacred by Spitz.
In chapter 3, Spitz lay on Bucks nest, which caused them to have a horrifying fight against one another. Buck had won the fight, leaving Spitz to die.
In chapter 4, Francois tries to make Sol-leks the lead dog, but Buck makes it clear that he wanted the lead spot. Sol-leks really didn't care to give his spot away to Buck.
In chapter 5, Buck and his team were sold again. This time it was Hal, Charles, and Mercedes. They were lacking skill. They were whipping Buck, but John Thornton saved Buck because he didn't like that they were whipping him. John Thornton threatened them.
In chapter 6, Buck had found a master that he loved, John Thornton. Buck liked the way John Thornton treated him. John made a bet with a man named Matthewson, to see if Buck can pull a sled with 1,000 pounds or half a ton.
