Storyboard Text

  • Your son will be a great king like you are he will become a religious leader
  • I want my son to become a KING!!
  • Hey you move your dead husband and get out of here the prince is coming!
  • He's Dead!
  • There was a prince named Siddhartha, his father was the king of a country we now call Nepal. A fortune teller came in to the kingdom to tell young princes fortune.
  • Hello, do you know anything that is part of life and death?
  • Yes I do.
  • Since Siddhartha's father wanted him to become a king he made his son grow up in wealth and made his guards go with him everywhere to protect him from seeing all the horrors in the world. Also the guards went ahead to move any sad, sick, old, and the prince could not see death.
  • I must leave I can't think properly.
  • One day Siddhartha went out on his own without guards and he came along an  old man leaning on a cane than he saw a man with a disease, after that he came along a man who had died with the family having sadness in their hearts. After the day he said, "All the joy of life which there is in life died within me."
  • After what he found out about life he set out to the forest to find the truth. He joined some guru's in the woods and learned some of their teachings like reincarnation and karma but he did not believe in the one supreme god so he left taking some ideas.
  • After a little while by learning some Hindu beliefs he left, but took some ideas with him. Siddhartha's next band he join'd was some religious ascetics. He practiced self denial which is when you barley eating anything for a full 5 years. Soon he could not think properly and got some food from a woman who offered. Then he left because he was to weak to think.
  • When Siddhartha's strength returned he found a fig tree to meditate under to learn the truth. He sat under that tree for 49 days and during those days he saw his past lives. He then understood the cycle of birth, death then rebirth. He then started to realize that he escaped the cycle. He then achieved enlightenment and became the Buddha.
