  • Texans refused to give cannon back
  • When a military commander in Texas received word that the American Colonists of Gonzales refused to surrender a small cannon, that had been given to the town, he sent Francisco de Castaneda and 100 solders to retrieve it.
  • Texans on their way to place the Flag
  • x100
  • When Castaneda's troops reached the Guadalupe river on September 29th, they found their path blocked by high water and 18 Texas soldiers.
  • "Come and Take it" flag
  • Castaneda tried to ask for the cannon back but the Texans refused. Texans used the cannon with their own army.
  • Ended The Battle
  • On October 1st, Texas troops crossed over the river and towards castaneda's camp.
  • COME AND TAKE IT
  • Texans raised a flag that said "come and take it" with a picture of the cannon in the middle. Soon enough, they attacked the Mexicans.
  • COME AND TAKE IT
  • Mexicans didnt' have enough weapons and were outnumbered so Castaneda ordered a withdrawal.
