Stacey has always had a knack for making desserts. So, she is deciding to open up a shop in Berkeley, California.
Stacey has prepared almost all the treats for the opening day. But, there is one treat that she can't figure out how to make, ice-cream! She has the recipe, but she can't figure out the measurements. All she knows about the wafer is that its base should have a diameter of 6cm and a slant height of 10cm. She also knows that scoop of ice-cream should have the same diameter. But how will she figure it out?
Wait! She learned this! She would need to find the lateral area of the cone and the volume of the sphere. Lets write this out: (if the diameter is 6, then the radius is 3) Lateral Area of the cone: π x r x l = π x 3 x 10 = π x 30 ≈ 94. 24 cm2 To find the volume of the sphere: 4/3 π r3 = 4/3 x π x 33 = 4/3 x π x 27 = 4/3 x 84.8 = 113 cm3
All of candy and desserts are ready. With the calculations, Stacey was even able to make a triple-scoop ice-cream!
