"She skipped me, Jonas thought, stunned...He felt dizzy and couldn't focus his attention..the numbers continued in order.Jonas sat, dazed, as they moved into the thirties and the forties nearing the end." pg 57 ch7
I know that I have caused you anxiety. I apologize to my community
19 thank you for your childhood...21 thank you for your childhood
This change wasn't effective because it was very rushed and did not demonstrate how Jonas was very stressed and worried that the chief elder did not call his number, like in the book.
"Jonas bowed his head and searched through his mind. What had he done wrong?" pg 58 In the play the actors didn't show this moment of suspense, they just sat there and watched.
Elder: You're the new Receiver of memory... Jonas:ok
The Chief Elder talked too fast and it did not emphasize the fact that she skipped Jonas' number. Because it was too quick it didn't give the audience time to process that this accident was a big deal in the community.
Jonas walks up to the stage
Jonas didn't ask as many questions like in the book. It was really quick so it didn't have as much meaning as it did in the book
