Middle Ages - The Life of a Knight

Storyboard Text

  • A Knight In The Middle Ages
  • Us, feudal nobles, trained from boyhood to become knights, or mounted warriors.
  • Our training was tough and of discipline; if we misbehaved, a punishment would be delivered.
  • Knights had a mutual obligation to serve their father's lord as they trained.
  • Chivalry was developed; knights would be brave, honorable, and generous to their enemies. They would not attack another knight while he was trying to put armor on.
  • We protected the vassals, lords, and peasants. Fiefs, the estates granted to vassals by lords, caused the vassals to give 40-day military services each year.
  • Knights in feudalist Europe had to endure and serve others throughout their life. In feudalism, we were above the peasants, but below the lords and vassals; we were used by them for protection.
