The Tennis Court Oath was a pledge made by the members of France's National Assembly in 1789. In which they vowed to contunue meeting until they had drawn up a new constitution
They moved to an indoor tennis court after the Third Estate declared themselves the National Assembly. Inside they took their Tennis Court Oath. This event represented a step towards democracy.
