  • Listen carefully about how I took the life of the old man.
  • Inciting Incident
  • Rising Action
  • The narrator who had a mental disease was sent to prison because he was found sane during the time of the murder of the old man that loved. He explains about how he killed the old man and planned out what to do.
  • Climax
  • The narrator decides to kill the old man because of his vulture eye. 
  • Falling Action
  • They eye will no longer bother me.
  • For seven nights, the narrator cautiously stalks the old man.  He alerts the old man from his sleep with a noise from the lantern. The narrator stays very still trying not to make him notice that someone is with him. He starts to hear the beating of the old man's heart because he was scared. The lantern was right on the eye and it was open. The narrator finally decides to attack the old man.
  • Resolution
  • I admit I killed the old man. Rip off the planks he is buried underground
  • On the eight night the old man had his eye open revealing it the narrator. The narrator smothers the old man because since the eye was haunting him.
  • The narrator takes the old mans body to the bathtub to chop him up and not make a mess. He finishes cutting him up and then buries him underground to not leave any tracks of the old man. The police show up to the house, so the narrator greets them. The narrator is confident that they won't suspect a single thing,
  •   After a while he starts to hear a noise. He thinks he he hears the old man's but it is his own.The narrator admits that he killed the man and tells the cops that he buried his body parts underground to make the loud beating of the heart to stop.
