  • The story is set on June 27th, from 10 A.M to 12 noon, in a village of only 300 people. Our protagonist is Tessie Hutchenson. She is going against the society of her town.
  • Falling action
  • One by one, the townsfolk get called up to the box too draw a slip, but they do not open it until everyone has a slip. Tessie nudges Bill Hutchenson to get up there and draw, not knowing what will happen.
  • Resolution
  • Everyone finds out that Bill Hutchenson has the black dot.
  • Theme/Conflict
  • Not everything is just how it seems to be!! also, our conflict is person vs society.
  • The Hutchenson Family draws from the box again, and Tessie "wins" by drawing the slip with the black dot.
  • Tessie gets stoned to death.
