Storyboard Text

  • Hello, I am wondering about women health drugs, such as contraceptive methods.
  • Absolutely! There's many methods of birth control, we can see which one would work the best for you.
  • One method is the injectable contraceptive and another you may like is a intravaginal contraceptive.
  • I would like to hear more about the injectable contraceptive.
  • Medroxyprogestrone (Provera, Depo- Provera) inhibits the secretion of pituitary gonadotropins, which prevents follicular maturation and ovulation. Also, protects you for 3 months.
  • What are the effects of Medroxyprogesterone?
  • Most common expected effects are, spotting between periods, weight gain or loss. Other adverse effects of using this contraceptive may put you at risk for bone density loss and depression.
  • Thats good to know!
  • Report back to me if you have severe depression or very heavy bleeding from your vagina for a lot more days than usual.
  • Will do! Thank you, Dr. Barry!
  • Im feeling great with my new birth control, medroxyprogesterone! I love the ease of it!
