- When Max finds to chivalry with Worm he says "I explain about joe leaving, and how the last stop was supposed to be chivalry. When I say how everything will be okay once she finds her real father, Worm stares down at her hands and wont say anything which really blows my mind" Max shows empathy for worm and her father being reunited(Philbrick 108)

- Max and Worm came across an owl " the owl goes "hooooooooooooo!" and swoops up the wrecked part of the roof and he's gone wow I say and let out a breath I've been holding" Max is mesmerized by this owl soaring above him and Worm(Philbrick 117).

- Max and Worm think they have found her father "in the Morning Worm says its time to find her real dad "he's waiting for me" she says. "out there" she's staring at her hands again she doesn't want me to see what she's hiding in her eyes I go " you know where he is?" Worm nods" Worm is very nervous to see her father after coming a long ways with max(Philbrick 125).

- Max and Worm went inside the mine shaft and things took a turn " Then I hear the sheriff calling out "Maxwell Kane if you can hear me listen up! give yourself up and nobody gets hurt not you or that girl you got my word on that!" me and Worm keep still until the footsteps are gone until there is just us the darkness and the wind in the tunnel"(Philbrick137). Max and Worm ran until they couldn't.
- Max and Worm are on there last hopes they decided to pray " "We could pray" I say, and Worm seems to like the idea. So we get down on our knees and fold our hands, and when Worm nods her head to pray, a beam of light shines down into the shaft and it looks scary and beautiful at the same time"(Philbrick 143). They decided to pray instead of giving up
- Max and Worm see the dragon " "Uh-oh" Worm says. Uh-oh is right. Because suddenly the wind starts pushing hard against us, like something big is coming into the tunnel. Worm goes "The dragon He's coming back!" the ground starts shaking under my feet and the wind coming faster and I can hear this low kind of growl, like a giant monster really has entered the tunnel(Philbrick 145)" Max realized the monster was back and he knew he had to be a hero to save worm
