"O' Lord God, What will you give me, for I continue childless and the heir to my house is Eliezer of Damascus. You have given me no offspring's, and so a slave born in my house is to be the heir."
"Do not be afraid, Abram, I am your shield, Your reward shall be very great."
"This man shall not be your heir; no one but your very own issue shall be your heir. Look towards heaven and count the stars. So shall be your descendants ."
"I am the Lord who brought you from Ur of the Chaldeans, to give you this land to possess.Bring me a heifer three years old, a female goat three years old, a ram three years old, a turtle-dove, and a young pigeon."
Genesis 15; 1-4: The Lord came to Abram in a version, He told him that he is his shield and that his reward will be great. Abram wanted to have a child but his wife Sarai could not conceive. So Abram asked whether a salve born in his house will become his heir.
"You see that the Lord has prevented my from bearing children; go to my slave girl and; it may be that I shall obtain children by her."
Genesis 15; 4-6: The Lord replied to Abram saying that his only descendant can be an issue from his very own. And of course Abram believed him.
"May the wrong done to me be on you! I gave my slave-girl to your embrace, and when she saw that she had conceived, she looked on me with contempt. May the Lord judge between you and me!"
"Your slave girl is in your power, do to you as you please."
Genesis 15; 7-11: God asked Abram to bring him a heifer, female goat, a ram, a turtle-dove and a young pigeon. all aged three years. Abram brought them to him and cut them in two, laying each half over against the other, but he did not cut the birds in two.
"Hagar, slave-girl of Sarai, where have you come from and why are you crying?"
"I am running away from my mistress Sarai."
Genesis 16; 2-3: Sarai was old and she was never able to conceive, so she told Abram to have a child with a slave called Hagar. Abram listened to her voice and did as she said.
Genesis 16; 4-6: When Abram had gone with Hagar and Sarai found out that she had conceived she was furious at both Abram and the slave, Abram told Sarai that she can do whatever she pleases with Hagar.
Genesis 16; 7-9: The angel of the Lord found Hagar by the spring of water in the wilderness. The angel asked her where she came from and why she was crying. She responded by saying that she was running away from Sarai.
