- How did Misty Copeland get interested in ballet?
- Misty Copeland grew up with her single mother and 5 siblings in a small motel at the Sunset Inn in Gardena, California. She has 2 sisters and 3 brothers. Her full name is Misty Danielle Copeland. Misty Copeland was born in Kansas City, Missouri and raised in San Pedro.

- First ballet lesson
- Misty Copeland joined a girls and boys club. A ballet teacher came to pick students from the girls and boys club who did not learn what ballet was. Misty Copeland was one of the kids who got chosen.

- It was a small ballet school so she did not know that other African - American kids were getting told that they did not have to correct/proper body type. Fake news was saying that if you have a dark skin tone, you have flat feet and were not flexible enough.
