Texans and Americans had coplaints about each other. Americans were unhappy that all officla doucments had to be in Spainish. Texans were unhappy Americans didnt want to learn Spainish.
Texas was its independence
In 1833 Stephen F. Austin traveled to Mexico to ask the Mexican government to reopen Texas to immigrants and to make it a separate Mexican State so that Texas could run their own affairs. Santa Anna and Austin arranged for promoting a rebellion.
Remember the Alamo
The Alamo's defenders watched as general Santa Anna raised a black flag that meant " expect no mercy". When the general demeaned that the surrender William Travis answered with a cannon shot. Slowly Santa Anna troops began to surrounded Alamo the Texans were vastly out numbered by one man fled.
Santa Anna pushed on Houstons only hope eastward. By luring Santa Annas troops deeper into Texas he hoped to make it more diffclut for the genral to supplied his army and maintan his battle.
The Texans over ran the mexican camp prompting Santa Anna to flee. He was captured the next day.
Texas won its independence. They call it there Lone Star repudlic because of the single star on its flag.
