  • Halloween, origins in Ireland, was for bonfires, games and food.
  • Halloween was not originally for candy and costumes.
  • I can smell the food already!
  • What cute costumes!
  • Trick or Treat!
  • Ireland later adopted trick or treating and costumes.
  • They believed that this would welcome the dead on this "magical" night.
  • Australian people often leave bread, lighted lamps, and water out before bed on Halloween night.
  • They also believed black cats were bad luck and shouldn't be found in a house or on a boat.
  • Belgium people, like Australians, believed in lighting candles in memory of the dead. 
  • Oh no, bad luck!
  • The Chinese would put out food and water in front of the dead's portraits.
  • The Chinese also lit campfires and lamps to "Light the path" for souls as they travel the earth
