  • Hey mom...what's up?
  • Can I think about it?
  • I just got off the phone with Aunt Liz. The cousins are going to Israel this December and Kate is having a Bat Mitzvah ceremony.
  • They asked if you want to do it with her.
  • Sure but the only issue is that you will have to have another service when you turn 13 since you will technically be too young to officially have a Bar Mitzvah...so think about it.
  • Hmmm okay. I'll think about it. when do I need to decide by?
  • You have two days to decide...we need to starts booking flights.
  • ughhhh it's so late and I can't decide what to do!

  • Levy. Thank you. Yes we wanted to check i--
  • Hollie can you please let me deal with this?
  • I am just trying to help Marc, there's no need to get angry. It has been a long day for all of us.
  • Okay but that does not mean you need to yell at me you could have asked instead.
  • Okay.
  • I just want to check in, get to the room, put the bags down, and then eat dinner. It's faster if I take care of it. Please.

  • That's not fair I want the bed. MOM!!!!
  • I'm older I get the big bed.
  • WITH IT BEING MY OWN B'NAI MITZVAH, I OBVIOUSLY FELT I DESERVED THE BIG BED BUT I KNEW MY MOM WOULD BE ON MY SIDE...
  • Jake and Izzy are you kidding me? Why are you bothering me with this? I have my own stuff to deal with right now.
  • It's not fair mom I want the big bed.
  • It really does not matter figure it out yourselves if you care. Bye.
  • Jake gets the bed, he's worked very hard the past few months. Izzy you will be fine. Dinner is in an hour. Be ready.
  • But that's not fair!!!!
  • I'm sorry ma'am, I don't know why it won't work. I don't work for Apple.
  • Okay guys, let's go get dinner!
  • Izzy get off the table. What are you doing?
  • I want WIFI!!!!! It won't work!
  • Why am I always getting yelled at?
  • The rest of the trip leading up to the B'nai Mitzvah was all pretty much the same -- lots of disagreements, my grandma worried about getting wifi, my sister upset she was sleeping on the cot, etc. The point of this piece is to highlight the growth my family had on the trip. So far you have just witnessed the first 24 hours and you can see how much we have already argued. Instead of going through the entire vacation, I will instead skip to the big day because you can imagine the number of arguments a family of 9 people had throughout a vacation together. By doing this you will see the comparison of the first and last day.
  • Mom, what kind of question is that?
  • What kind of bush is that?
  • Yes, she actually asked our tour guide what kind of bush some random one was.
  • On the Wailing Wall, location of the B'nai Mitzvah, on the Big Day.
  • Me!
  • Me!
  • Wonderful! Lets to go a more private area where we can have the ceremony!
  • Welcome Levy family! Who are the B'nai Mitzvahs?
  • I hope you're right...that wouldn't be fair for Jake and Kate if it rained and we couldn't have the ceremony
  • Guys, don't worry. Grandpa and grammy jude are in heaven watching all of us right now. I know for a fact they will help us out on this special day.
  • But we've worked so hard and we might not even be able to celebrate?
  • Guys, I just want to let you all know that I was looking at the weather and it might rain. If it does we aren't supposed to do the ceremony. Let's hope it doesn't because I am not sure what we will do. I just wanted you all to know.
  • This is where we will perform the B'nai Mitzvah. If the Bar and Bat Mitzvah can join me on this side of the table please.
  • Oh my God! Look up! The clouds cleared. Grammy Jude and Grandpa answered our prayers!!
  • We celebrate this joyous day...
  • The rest of the ceremony went smoothly. We laughed, we cried, but most importantly we grew closer as a family. During a time as sacred as this, we missed the rest of our family that we lost years ago but knew they were still here with us, and would always be. That is why the rest of the trip was filled with love, appreciation, and respect --no more fighting or disagreements, just family.
  • I knew they would help! Because they know the importance of family. I love you all so much.
  • I love you, family.
  • I love you all.
  • Wonderful! Now let's begin...
  • THANK YOU
