"I will devour you for my dinner! Time to feast..."
We decided on "lugging it near the Cyclops... deep in his crater eye."
"Puny, am I, in Caveman's hands? How do you like the beating we gave you, you damned cannibal?"
In the beginning of the story, Odyssey was in the mindset of, "me or him." At that moment, he decided that he must kill the Cyclops in order to escape intact.
Unfortunately, Odyssey and his shipmates wounded up trapped in his cave, protected and closed off by a humongous boulder. He could no longer kill the Cyclops, for he was their only way out.
Once Odyssey and his fellow shipmates escaped, he gloated about how he damaged the Cyclops eye! Furthermore, Odyssey is a complex character because his mindset shifted from wanting to kill the Cyclops, to just wanting to make it out alive.
