  • Lines 1-13: Description of her life through imagery. Lines 14-17: Telling her son to not give up despite his hardships because she has a bigger one currently. Lines 18-20: A reminder of how her life is much harder than his.

  • It is more of a motivational tone for the child.

  • The author believes that people should overcome their hardships rather than give up. There is no definitive shift in the time, attitude towards the subject, or towards the reader.
