  • With the help of his father, Zacharias Janssen was credited for making the first telescope even though he was really young. 
  • Robert Hooke
  • Cells will be called "cells" because they remind me of the cellula which monks stay in.
  •  While studying the epidermis of orchids, Robert Brown discovered "an opaque spot" which he later called a nucleus.
  •  Matthias Schleiden proposed the idea that all plant tissues are made of cell and that cells are the basic building blocks for all plants. He discovered that cells were alive.   
  • Theodor Schwann discovered that animals also have cells.  He made two of the three parts of the cell theory. 1-Cells are organisms and all organisms consist of one or more cells 2-cells are the basic unit of structure and function for all organisms.
  • Rudolf Virchow wrote the final part of the cell theory which states that all cells develop from preexisting cells.
