- "Old shipmates, friends I'll make the crossing in my ship, with my company and find out what the mainland natives are."
- "Straightforward they sprinted, lifted it, and rammed it deep in his crater eye, and I leaned on it turning it as a shipwright turns a drill."
- "The blind thing in his doubled fury broke a hilltop in his hands and heaved it after us."
- Odysseus and some men decide to cross the sea and head to a mainland to see what the natives are like. This then leads to the conflict with is that they invade a property to the cyclopes.
- They arrived at a cave which was owned by the cyclopes. The men went inside and as they were inside the cyclopes trapped them inside. The cyclops had them in there for about 2 days but the day they escaped they stabbed the cyclopes eye.
- The men managed to escape the cave after they had stabbed the cyclopes in the eye. The men ran and so did the cyclopes. The Men got on their ship and as they were leaving the cyclopes threw a hilltop at them.
