Everyone calm down! Go to the Bush, all of you! Now!
Where is my family? How will they find me?
Salva is sitting in school thinking about his chores he has to do when he gets home, and his family and friends.
Will you take him with you?
All of a sudden, Salva and his classmates hear gunshots. So his teacher told the class to run into the Bush.
As Salva is running, he's hearing all of fighting and screaming of pain, and is wondering where his family is, and how will they find him.
An old woman finds him and offers him some raw peanuts. Then she says she has to travel by herself. While hes talking with her, they hear voices. When the men come into sight. Salva sees Dinka tribe scars on their heads. The woman asks them if they can take Salva with them. At first, one of the tribesmen say no. Then with the discussion, they say yes only because Salva is Dinka.
Yes, only because he is Dinka
A few days into the journey, he and the men are resting. He can't sleep, and he hears a voice from behind him. It's his uncle! Then the group travels across the Akobo desert, and is met by a dead stork by a little patch of water. There was only enough for each person to get a bite or two but Slava was okay with that.
Salva is learning english with an Irish docter at the refugee camp in Kenya. This doctor is the only one that was nice enough that would teach him.
