I can't believe that she is really dead! Why her!!
I wonder if we are still making it obvious.
Oh my. I can feel their judgment because of my outfit.
Marji's mom just went through a traumatic experience. She was insulted by some men who then told her that women like her should be mistreated in inappropriate ways and then be thrown in the garbage. She was then threatened that if she didn't want that to happen, she should wear her veil.
I know! She is basically provoking men to do stuff with her.
OMG you see what she is wearing!!
Marji was walking past her neighborhood after the explosion. She was shocked by all the damage that it has caused. While on her way to her house, she noticed a familiar house that was destroyed. It was Baba-Levy's house. Once she passed the house, she saw a turquoise bracelet. She then realized that it was Neda's bracelet and that was when she realized that Neda died due to the explosion.
What happened!! I can't believe Lucia's house is destroyed with her inside!!!
Marji was dating Reza but they weren't allowed to be seen together. No women were allowed to be accompanied by any men who weren't their family or husband. If this wasn't a law, Reza and Marji would probably not have the adventurous relationship they haf.
I can feel them watching us. They are already judging.
Oh definitely. Just look at them. Later she is going to announce her pregnancy and get married and run away.
It is obvious that she is going to run away from her house to be that guy
In Mexico, girls are expected to wear certain clothing. If the girls wear anything that may show anything, including too much leg, too much arm, and etc, they were automatically criticized. It would be automatically assumed that they were showing off too much and that based on what they were wearing, they are provoking men to not respect them in any way. Anything that was to happen to the girl, they would be the ones to blame for showing off too much skin and wearing clothing that they weren't allowed. If this weren't an issue, women would not be afraid to speak up if they had ever been abused. They would also have much more confidence than they do right now.
There would be earthquakes in Mexico. When there was an earthquake, many lost their friends and family due to the natural disaster. If earthquakes weren't a thing, no one would have to be mourning for a friend's death due to an earthquake.
Any woman who were seen with any men would be automatically judged. The elders would assume that they were in a sexual relationship. They believed that once you have a boyfriend and hang out with him frequently, they would end up running away with the guy and get pregnant. If this wasn't a problem, women would not be afraid to have a boyfriend. Marji's case is similar to mine because my culture prevents women to have their freedom to date. A difference would be that they would get arrested for being around any men while we just get judged.
