  • Scene 3

  • Scene 4
  • About 20 secs
  • Action: Tom walks out into the grassland environment Dialogue:  “The geographic isolation is a mode of speciation that occurs when biological populations of the same species become isolated from each other to an extent that prevents or interferes with genetic interchange. Now, that’s not as confusing as it sounds. Let me explain"
  • Scene 5
  • About 20 secs
  • Action: Tom is looking at audience in a grassland environment Dialogue: "“Here is an example. If there is a grassland of mice that live all together, they likely have the same traits and adaptations. But then, one day that grassland was separated by a dramatic earthquake. The environment on one side moved northern and got super cold, while the environment on the other side moved south, towards the equator, and go super warm and desert like.”
  • Scene 6
  • About 20 secs
  • Action: Moves to a colder more suitable environment  Dialogue: “Now over the years the cold environment mice got white coats and thicker fur because they adapted to the new environment. And the warmer environment mice got brown fur with a thinner coat because they adapted to their new environment.”
  • About 20 secs
  • Action: Talking Tom looks to audience Dialogue: “After thousands of years of the mice being separated, the land started to merge together. This connected the two now very different species of mice. You see now, these mice used to be one species with the same traits, but after geographic isolation, there is now two species of mice with very different traits because of their adaptations.”
  • About 20 secs
  • Action: Tom goes back home and looks out at the audience Dialogue: “I hope you all now know what geographic isolation is now. It is a hard concept to get your head around, but once you understand it you all can be experts on animal adaptations and natural selection. Now you can show off to all your friends and tell them what geographic isolation is!"
