  • Singer and actress Diana Ross was part of the 1960s pop/soul trio the Supremes before embarking on a successful solo career, also starring in such films as 'Lady Sings the Blues' and 'The Wiz.' Diana Ross was born on March 26, 1944, in Detroit, Michigan. She began singing with friends as a teenager. Her and her friends thought of it as a hobby.
  • As soon as fame hit the Supremes, Diana saw that her friends had changed. They had started to let the money overwhelm them. That was when Diana decided it was time to leave the Supremes and start a solo career.
  • Diana Ross is important, because she showed women of all ages that when your friends change you don't have to. You can make it on your own or you could make new friends.
